Meet our Staff...
Miss Ashley has been working in the Early Childhood Education field for over 20 years. Ashley has owned the school since 2004. She has been an assistant teacher, teacher, and has been running the school for 15 years now. Throughout college, and several years after, Ashley worked for the ARC, bridging the gap between schools, specialists, and home life in the lives of special needs children and their families. This school was Miss Ashley's dream and has been her passion every day since that dream came true. Ashley is a mom of two fur babies, her cats Marty and Hank, and son, Max!
Miss Whitney earned her Masters from the State University of New York Cortland and has been working in Early Childhood Education for over 15 years. Miss Whitney has been teaching at Allwood Play and Learn for 8 years. She is currently teaching the Clifton Public PreK 4's classroom. Whitney is a mom to her three children, son Nikolai, daughter Brielle, and youngest son Laine who all graduated Allwood Play and Learn!
Miss Marie earned her B.A. from CUNY SPS and has been teaching at Allwood Play and Learn for 8 years now. Miss Marie works in our morning care, welcoming all of our early risers to school every day. Marie is a mom to her oldest son Milo, and younger son Daryl, who just recently graduated APL. Miss Marie also helps with our paperwork in the office as well as answering emails and Lillio messages!
Miss Ana has been teaching at Allwood Play and Learn for 10 years. Miss Ana is one of our original Summer Camp teachers, and one of our first aftercare staff members, she helped our virtual big kid learners during the pandemic, and also has experience with our littles crew, and currently works alongside Miss Whitney in the Public PreK classroom. She is mom to her oldest son Jacob who graduated from Allwood Play and Learn, daughter, Lily, and and her youngest son, Gregory who are both attending Allwood Play and Learn this year!
Miss Sam has been at Allwood Play and Learn for 5 years now. She will be working along side Miss Camille again this school year in our littles class. She loves being around kids and just seeing them smile and laugh brightens her day! Sam is always excited to spend her days coming up with fun science experiments and learning with her class.
Miss Amani joined Allwood Play and Learn almost 5 years ago and is teaching the PreK 4's class. She has 20 years of experience teaching preschool and is a pro at helping our big kids with beginning reading skills before they head to Kindergarten. She has two sons, one in high school and one in college.
Miss Jocelyn is our newest member of the staff and joined us during last school year in our private PreK 4s class. She has a B.A. in Sociology and has spent time as a nanny and has taught in a Montessori / Outdoor Nature-Based program as well as traditional classrooms. Miss Jocelyn has over 6 years of experience working with children and in her free time enjoys going to shows on Broadway. She brings her love of music and theater into the classroom.
Miss Camille has been at Allwood Play and Learn for 4 years as she has continued to work on her degree in Psychology. Camille loves spending her days playing on the floor and getting messy with our youngest members. When Camille is not in the classroom or in college classes, she enjoys cooking and traveling!
Miss Sharon was initially an Allwood Play and Learn mom of two daughters, Opal and Mayah who both graduated APL. Miss Sharon holds a B.A. in fine arts. She started with us as a substitute teacher and now works in the PreK 3s classroom. She is a true artist and has all the wonderful creative ideas and loves to get messy.
Miss Laura joined our teaching team last year and has been a crucial part of the closing crew. She has really enjoyed spending the summer with our going to Kindergarten group in her first Summer Camp experience. Miss Laura has one grown-up son and loves her two cats Hailey and Toby.
